Brief for Jeffrey Skilling Appeal

Houston Attorney Tom Kirkendall has read the much-noted appellate brief by the lawyers for former Enron chief Jeffrey Skilling and written about it in the post, The Skilling Appeal Brief at his weblog Houston's Clear Thinkers:

I read the entire brief while watching football over the weekend and it is brilliant. The brief is extremely well-written and organized, and eschews much of the technical legal jargon that often makes appellate briefs a chore to read.

Mr. Kirkendall expands on these initial comments by writing a post that contains not only his own thoughts in reaction to brief, but links and references to a variety of related posts and pertinent materials, including the brief itself.   It was well worth reading.

I was also struck by this part of his initial commentary,

It would be extremely difficult to read this brief objectively and come to the conclusion that Jeff Skilling has not been the victim of a gross miscarriage of justice...

Given all that we have read about the Enron affair over the past number of years, if that comment doesn't tickle your curiousity about just what is in this brief,  likely nothing will.

You can find links to the brief and a variety of links to other commentators in the blawgosphere and media via Mr. Kirkendall's full post, which is here: The Skilling Appeal Brief
