Professor Bainbridge Formulates Hypothetical Exam Question from Mayer Brown News

Now here is an interesting question to ponder on a Saturday afternoon.

With all of the buzz across the blawgosphere related to the reports from Chicago yesterday that law firm Mayer Brown was reducing its equity partner ranks [see, WSJ Law Blog: Mayer Brown Purging 45 Partners, and Chicago Tribune: Mayer Brown cuts partners] Professor Stephen Bainbridge reacted by thinking the story might have the elements of a "great partnership law exam question."

In his post, Does a Partnership Breach Fiduciary Duties by Firing Partners to Become More Profitable?, Professor Bainbridge does just that.   I don't want to borrow snippets from his post, as you really should read everything in context before formulating your own answer.    But, since he posted the question in his blawg, you can respond in the comments section and perhaps get a discussion thread going.   Given that he ends his post simply by saying "Discuss," I think he may be hoping people take him up on this offer.
