Hot Topics for Monday: iPhone and Law Firm Patriotism

Curious as to hot topics in the blawgosphere as we start another workweek?   I can think of two that have set the 'sphere abuzz.

The first can be generically termed "Law Firm Patriotism."

This first item is related to alleged comments from a Pentagon official last week.   As noted by Bob Kraft in his post, Pentagon Tries To Punish Lawyers For Representing Prisoners: "According to an article in the New York Times, a top Pentagon official encouraged corporations to fire their lawyer if that lawyer works for a firm that is representing prisoners at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba."  A quick search of the blawgosphere for term "Guantanamo" returned 66 hits, the most recent of which are commentary and analysis of the alleged comments and their repercussions, if any.   Obviously, this topic hit a nerve in the legal community.

The second is simply "iPhone."

Since last week's unveiling of the iPhone at MacWorld, as well as the news that Cisco was filing suit against Apple related to the use of the term "iPhone," the blawgosphere has seen a flurry of posts on the subject.   Some of the posts are Trademark lawyers looking at the Cisco action and potential outcomes.  Others are simply looking at the iPhone itself; its form and function and potential in the marketplace.   To see for yourself, simply click this predefined search: search the blawgosphere for iPhone.
