Blawg's Sunday Paper, 1 - 7 - 07

Blawg's Sunday Paper, a quick spin through blawgosphere and the week that was.

Paul Caron at TaxProf Blog highlighted his talk on Building and Marketing Your Scholarly "Brand" at the AALS 2007 meeting in Washington, D.C.

Peter Zura's Two-Seventy-One Patent Blog noted No Standing Found for "Enforcement-Only" Agreement:

In another "patent standing" case, plaintiff Propat agreed with patent owner Authentix to license, enforce and sue infringers of Authentix's patent. In exchange, Propat would receive a percentage share of any proceeds. The lower court found that Propat lacked standing to sue, since "all substantial rights" were not transferred under the agreement.

The CAFC affirmed, finding that the agreement expressly provided that Authentix is the owner of the patent.

Slaw talked about Another Thomson West Consultancy Acquisition:

After last year's unusual acquisition of Brad Hildebrandt's firm by Thomson, comes news that Baker Robbins, one of the best regarded legal technology consulting firms is being acquired. Good for David Baker and Brad Robbins.

Now how West capitalizes on the acquisition is an interesting challenge...

Empirical Legal Studies remarked that it has been named the Official Blog of the AALS Section on Law and Social Sciences.

Peter Harrell, a second year student at The Yale Law School and former journalist, talked about Judicial Pay Again in light of Justice Robert's recent commentary on the subject.  He also noted that it was a topic he had shared his opinion on previously in Judicial Pay.

Ann Barstow at Sivacracy.net suggested that The Plurality Religion of Congress is Catholicism, as is the majority of U.S. Supreme Court Justices.

New York Supreme Court Criminal Term Library highlighted the New York Law Journal Lead Articles .

VoteLaw wrote about Florida: Jennings asks appeal court to allow review of computer code, which involved Democrat Christine Jennings, who "[a]rgu[ed] that her challenge of the outcome of the Congressional District 13 race will be 'crippled' if she cannot review voting machine computer codes and hardware."

The Invent Blog highlighted a new project in  My latest project: FedCirc.us, which was also covered by Promote the Progress:

Currently, FedCirc.us is a website that allows patent professionals and other patent stakeholders to access, digest and manage patent caselaw information.  The site is built on a foundation of timely, accurate, and considered reviews of patent decisions from the Supreme Court of the United States and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

And, finally, Michel-Adrien Sheppard aka Library Boy , pointed out some New Legal Research Resources from GlobaLex.

Another week of great content, ideas and commentary throughout the blawgosphere.   I encourage you to jump in via any of the links above or do a search of your own via the Blawg search box at the top of this page.   Enjoy your Sunday...
