On Monday, I wrote a short post, The Buzz Begins: New York Associate Bonuses, noting that the annual buzz surrounding New York law firm associate bonuses had begun. At the time, I also surmised that the interest in the topic may be limited to certain regional areas. Hmmm... I think I got that wrong. The traffic to that post immediately took off and the numbers continue to grow.
And, judging from certain corners of the blawgosphere, this experience has been fairly typical. Above the Law, which has been covering it almost hour-by-hour for the last two weeks has gone so far as to create the Bonuses Archives, compiling all of its posts on the subject (post titles include my personal favorite, Associate Bonus Watch: The Fat Lady Is Losing Her Voice).
Even Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit dipped his toe in, and gave the Associate Bonuses a mention.
By month end, the buzz will have moved on to other subjects I am sure. But, it just goes to show that, at least on occasion, the blawgosphere gets caught up in the same themes as the rest of the world.
