[Note and Update, April 2006: the author of Dying Law Firm recently informed me that he/she was taking the blawg offline permanently. Thus, the links noted in the following article are no longer valid.]
Candidly, I cannot verify if this new blawg, Death of My Law Firm, is truth or a hoax. I also cannot predict if the author will continue to record her thoughts as she has just gotten started.
But, I thought it worth calling out this nascent blawging effort because of its very premise, "An anonymous associate chronicles the demise of her law firm." Take a look and see if you have the same reaction that I did. I couldn"t just skim the latest posting, I had to read everything on the page. Indeed, I was immediately struck by the poignant start to the second entry: "What is my firm dying from??? Failure to market and failure to regularly monitor client satisfaction."
How often are we reading about "client satisfaction" in the legal vertical these days? Answering my own question, pretty much every day as far as I can see. The realities this associate is apparently facing could be the end result of law firms which ignore this simple fact. Fascinating reading.
p.s. If it turns out that this anonymous author is just posting fiction, she may want to consider a writing career.
