I have received a number of inquiries asking for blawg subscription lists in Outline Processor Markup Language (OPML). I have spent some time working with OPML and have found version 1.0 of OPML to be just that, version 1.0. Until very recently, the absence of tools to build valid OPML made the work effort significant (and it still is not as simple as it needs to be). On the flipside, newsreaders are not of one mind as to what the standard for OPML actually is. Thus, even though you may have a fully validated OPML file, your newsreader might choke on it when you attempt to import.
However, I am really thinking glass half full when it comes to OPML. As I work through the kinks, the long-term view is one of significant potential. More to come on that later.
For now, I thought I would offer anyone interested, the following OPML files, which consist of a subscription list to all of the legal podcasters out there (if you are legal podcaster and are not included, just send me your link, and I will add), and a subscription list of intellectual property blawgs (again, if you are not on the list, send me a note).
If you are unfamiliar with OPML, note that you typically must Import this file into your favorite newsreader (as compared to subscribing to an RSS feed). Look for a button that says "Import OPML" or "Import File."
Also, note that this OPML file has been validated according to the specification noted at OPML.org. However, as I noted earlier, one of the realities of OPML at the moment is that not every feed reader is following this specification exactly. If your feed reader won't accept this file, feel free to let me know and I will see if I can troubleshoot. The real answer will probably lie with your feed reader software provider bringing their reader into spec, however.
