Jonathan Glater of the New York Times has written an article on blawgs, published in today's business section [
link].
The underlying aim of the article seems to be attempting to figure out the "whys" of blawgs. Especially, the question of why would a legal professional pen a blawg? It is a valid question, but not one I think is easily answered, especially so early in the life of the blawgosphere itself. Mr. Glater does reach some reasonable conclusions, especially given the tight word count he was given for his article, but I think those conclusions apply only to one aspect of blawgosphere.
Marketing, promotion, syndication and collaboration are four other concepts that, in my mind, will ultimately be an integral part of the answer to question of 'why' blawg? And, other concepts are in the works, believe me.
In the end, it is a welcome sign that blawgs entered The Times' radar screen. Here's hoping they stay in touch with the legal vertical as the blawgosphere develops. In the meantime, watch for more from other publications, as well, soon.
Good stuff.
