Blog search company
Technorati continues to enter into some interesting relationships with traditional media. Here are a couple of real world examples in which information from blogs--using Technorati as the conduit--is being integrated into online articles and stories.
For example, Take a look at this example article at Washington Post.com. At the bottom, right side of the page, you will see a little Technorati box that shows the weblogs which are referencing this particular article, complete with a link to each weblog. In effect, by simply signing up their site with Technorati and then posting some content with a link to a new article, each weblog author has allowed for their weblog to potentially be cross-referenced by The Washington Post, which in turn leaves open the door to more traffic from people first reading the Post article and then following links to various weblogs to dig deeper into the subject.
Similarly, Newsweek deployed a feature called "Blog Talk," which highlights, and links to, weblogs commenting on given online article. Click here for an example of this feature. Again, it is evident how the cross-linking from the news source could lead to more traffic for a given weblog, and vice-versa.
Where these early forays into interlinking traditional media with the blogosphere will ultimately lead is hard to know at this early stage. But, if these early forays are any indication, we can expect to see more and deeper connections, perhaps soon.
