This week, I couldn't help but noticing that blawg feeds were pushed aside in favor of the major news outlets for information regarding Supreme Court nominee John Roberts.
Google News, for instance, which does typically pick up some blawg feeds, is showing all of the big boys, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, etc.., and then starts displaying all of the regional papers which appear to be just republishing wire service reports. No blawgs are apparent [note: there were something like 4,000 articles being displayed, I didn't look for blawgs beyond about the first 100 -- who would?].
Too bad, because as I mentioned last week, there is some good stuff in the blawgosphere. And, while reporting from the largest papers in the United States and abroad certainly deserves its place at the top of the results, I do have to wonder if a rehash of an article that 50 regional papers have just pulled off the wires adds more value than the perspective of a well-written blawg like Supreme Court Nomination Blog. I know my own answer to that question...
