Wow. So, here I am minding my own business and adding the most recent batch of new blawg submissions to the directory. (And as is usually the case when I add the new blawgs) I find myself following links and diving smack into the blawgosphere, only to suddenly realize something...I think maybe blawgs are here to stay.
What was the bolt of lightning? How about four bolts of lightning.
First, I am amazed at not only the sheer number of new blawgs, but in the quality of the blawg sites. The content is good and the blawg sites look great. It is crystal clear that many attorneys and other professionals in the legal sector are spending both time and money in developing their blawgs.
Second, the legal subject matter being discussed/covered continues to expand. Blawgers are delivering the goods in their areas of interest and expertise, oftentimes in topical areas that are not run-of-the-mill or general interest in nature. It is certainly not a stretch to believe that the specialized knowledge and experience that legal experts are sharing via their blawgs will develop an audience of readers who can benefit from reading the daily or weekly blawg postings.
Third, there is small, but growing trend of attorneys using their blawg as sort of a dynamic curriculum vitae. You can still read their static c.v. by itself. But what is even better is reading their blawg in conjunction with the c.v. And, let's face it, c.v.'s are little dry on their own.
Finally, anyone else noticing how many blawgers are getting quoted in the media? Perhaps it is because reporters are themselves diving into the blawgosphere in search of story ideas and background. Maybe they see some value to the blawgosphere? Hmmm. Food for thought.
Anyway, those are the lightning bolts that hit me today; I need to get back to adding new blawgs to the directory.
