This one needs to be saved for posterity's sake (or at least to give a few of us a chuckle...)
For those who may have missed last month's listing on eBay, the student blawg Buffalo Wings and Vodka, opened the blawgosphere's first auction as follows (copied here because eBay will delete the entry shortly):
"You are bidding to the be the primary sponsor of BuffaloWings&Vodka, the law student weblog that one commentator described as "nowhere near as funny as last year" and another one dubbed "a complete waste of time that has been a total embarrassment to me and your mother."
As primary sponsor, you will get:
--A sweet banner ad, designed by the blog's author
--Your firm's name built right into the blog's title (Ex.--Acme Corp Presents: BuffaloWings&Vodka)
--Monthly personal letters from the blog's author, as well as color photos charting his progress and showing the huge difference you've made in his life
--A BuffaloWings&Vodka T-shirt, available exclusively with this deal a full two months before they go on sale to the public.
This item is ideal for law firms or solo practitioners looking to boost awareness in the law student community or provide that "edgy" vibe that seems to elude so many attorneys. It might also be a wise purchase for law professors experiencing popularity problems, or perhaps even large legal database services looking to guarantee supremacy over their one major rival by spending just a few hundred thousand dollars. Happy Bidding!"
The bidding was fierce and heavy with 23 totals bids. Alas, the final total was only $109.50 and the reserve was not met. Still, the ice has been broken for struggling law studets nationwide. Auctioning student blawg sponsorship rights for beer money? Hmmm... maybe next time...
