Revisiting the topic of weblogs as a powerful news, advocacy and media medium. Jeff Jarvis, who runs a blog entitled
BuzzMachine, has filed a new series of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the
Federal Communications Commission (FCC). You may recall Mr. Jarvis from a
story last month, which noted his surprising findings related to FCC fines levied against Fox for airing the "'sexually suggestive' Married by America." The initial blog posting garnered a lot of attention in media circles and Mr. Jarvis has since been making the rounds discussing what he found and what he believes it means.
Of interest to the blawgosphere was how a little legal sleuthing, combined with the power of the weblog medium, restarted the critical conversation taking place across the country regarding how decency laws and/or regulations are being applied by the FCC.
Given the notoriety that Mr. Jarvis' weblog has received since that initial FOIA request, it is a good bet that his blog will continue to be a "must-read," for anyone interested in the FCC or Media and Entertainment Law.
If you would like to find out more about Mr. Jarvis' pending FOIA requests, he offers details here.
