Searching Mobile Blogs

Search, Search, Search. We must be on the cusp of dot.com, version 2, because the number of new search engines coming online continues to grow; perhaps following the buzz surrounding online advertising revenue growth.

One of the latest search engines is IceRocket, which has joined forces with BlogSearchEngine to provide a new MoBlogs Search. MoBlogs (aka Mobile Blogs) can consist of both text and media, but are most recognized for the camera phone pictures (and soon, video phone video) that make up much of their content.

At this point, I have to say I am not sure how useful such a search actually is, but it does point to the future reality that all weblog content, in any form or format, will be indexed and searchable. The challenge this reality suggests is back to basics: someone will have to make sense of the looming mass of content to make it useful. Otherwise, we may all just tune out due to sheer information overload.
