As some visitors to Blawg may have noticed, the URL to each blawg's syndication feed is being appended to the blawg listing itself. For now, it is strictly a cut-and-paste affair (just block, cut-and-paste the URL into your favorite reader), but as it is becoming evident that more and more people read blawg content via their favorite newsreader instead of visiting the actual blawg site, feed URLs are clearly an important piece of information that needed to be added.
As I add the feed URLs, I am also auditing all of the blawgs which are part of the directory. This raises some questions. One, what should the standard be for determining when a blawg has been abandoned? Six months with no new entries. Something less; something more?
Of interest, I can say that I am pleasantly surprised at the relatively low number of abandoned blawgs.
Another item I find a little surprising is the number of blawgs that do not offer a syndication feed. The main reason behind this seems to be that the original free version of Blogger did not include a feed that was created automatically without any effort by the weblog's editor. Hopefully, Blogger will remedy this by helping early users of its original software add a syndication feed with minimal effort.
Well, back to the auditing desk...
