Law Student Blawgs Staying Power

I recently started to go through all of the law student blawgs that have been submitted to this directory over the last year or so. Mainly, so that I could organize them into something more coherent than one long alphabetical list. As part of this process, I am culling any blawg that has gone "out of service" or is otherwise DOA.

Given the workloads of the average law student, my initial guess was that I would find a lot of dead blawgs. Well, as I steadily make my way through the listings, I am finding that my guess was both right and wrong.

This is not a scientific study, but here are the trends I am seeing. One, a little over one-third of the law student blawgs have gone silent. Two, a little over one-third of the student blawgs are extremely active, with frequent postings. Within this group, there are a small number of students who apparently enjoy blawgging so much that they have invested a few bucks in their own domain name and moved up from the usual blawg starting point (e.g., yourblawg.blogspot.com or similar). The last group, with a little under a one-third representation, still are actively making blawg entries, but seem to have gone on hiatus at least once or twice in the past year (maybe around finals time?).

Anyway, as there has been so much criticism recently about weblogs and their lack of staying power, I thought I would offer that information for what it is worth. Now, back to my editing...
