The continuing realization that Google, Amazon, Yahoo and Microsoft will ultimately be direct competitors, is taking shape. Search is King, and all four of these entities are aware of it. I haven't seen specific information as to the status of Amazon's attempt to build its own search engine (the A9 project), but Microsoft just released its own new search engine in Beta.
