The second coming of online advertising continues to gain momentum in the form of keyword-based advertising. This advertising vehicle leverages the big search engines significant visitor volumes. An example is Google's
Adwords, which serves up advertisements based on search terms entered by a visitor to Google.com. Example: Entering the keywords "Immigration Law," results in the following
results on Google. You can see the advertisements at top and right of the search results.
The the world's top search engines attract large volumes of visitor traffic. For a blawg author who wishes to utilize his/her blawg as a marketing tool to expand business opportunities, leveraging Adwords-style advertising seems an option that must be given serious consideration. What better method currently exists to drive non-blawg community visitors to your blawg to learn about you and your skills and experience?
There is a cost, of course, but it is not as much as many may think. Also, I have noticed in particular a dearth of advertising for many keywords specific to the legal industry. Especially for a blawg author focused on a specific topic in which he/she is an expert, there appears to be value in advertising this expertise via the keyword approach. Coupling a well-written blawg with a keyword optimized advertising campaign could well be a potent online markeing combination.
Note: Blawg.org serves up a related Google advertising product called
Adsense. Most of the big search engines offer some variation of the Adwords and Adsense services mentioned above. I highlighted Google's options simply because that is the product line with which I am most familiar.
